Embark on an Exciting Journey: Embrace Nature!
Many of our training sessions occur in the working environments of our clients, and one observation I consistently make is how much of nature goes unnoticed during team members' daily commutes to the office.
Regardless of time and distance, the experience of the morning routine becomes habitual for many individuals, often shaping the way they approach the day ahead. For some, the early hours signal a time to wake up and embrace the new day with enthusiasm and energy. This transition from sleep to wakefulness can be marked by a variety of rituals, such as stretching, enjoying a warm beverage, or indulging in a moment of quiet reflection. These practices serve as a bridge between the restful state of slumber and the active engagement of daily life, allowing individuals to mentally prepare for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
On the other hand, there are those who utilize this time for a different purpose. Some people may take this opportunity to mentally prepare for the day ahead, engaging in activities such as meditation, journaling, or reviewing their goals and tasks. This intentional approach to the morning can help foster a sense of clarity and focus, enabling them to navigate the complexities of their responsibilities with greater ease and confidence. The act of setting intentions or visualising success during these early moments can significantly influence their mindset throughout the day.
Conversely, there are individuals who may literally sleep through this time, either due to exhaustion or a desire to escape the pressures of daily life. For them, the morning may pass by in a blur, marked by the fleeting sensations of dreams and the comforting embrace of their pillows. This experience can create a sense of disconnection from the waking world, as the hours slip away unnoticed, leaving them to confront the day in a hurried rush once they finally awaken.
Regardless of the approach, the morning hours often set the tone for the day, influencing mood, productivity, and overall well-being, as everything just flashes past in a blur of activity, intention, and sometimes, a longing for more restful moments.
When I ask them to describe their journey, it often seems dull, lacking in colors, smells, and sensations; it's crowded, monotonous, and simply something "we have to endure every day." I typically ask all trainees, "If you could change one thing about your work life, what would it be?"
The responses can be intriguing and offer me a true understanding of challenging areas, yet one suggestion that never arises is “alter my commute”. So, let's explore this: how much better would it be if every day, when you and your colleagues arrived at work, you felt refreshed, vibrant, energized, grateful, and prepared for the day?
Here's what can occur with a single, straightforward change: During your commute, open your eyes and mind. No matter where you are, nature surrounds you—see it, embrace it, let it in, and let it rejuvenate and refresh you. Allow it to energize your day. Beauty is all around us every day; it's free and wonderful. We just need to notice it. In the immortal words of my personal theme tune from the late great Louis Armstrong
*“I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself What a wonderful world”*
Each day of our lives is a blessing and a gift, with nature offering us the soundtrack for it. At VOS, we are proud to offer services that help individuals tackle difficult problems. We also strongly believe in the value of life's simple pleasures, such as nature. There's a beautiful saying, “If you can’t change what you look at, change the way you look at it.”
So please try this, start tonight on your way home and again tomorrow on your way to work, look out for the beauty of nature take a moment, see it embrace it, enjoy it, and just watch how your days will improve, this change will cost nothing and you’re going that way anyway.
*“I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world”*
Experience the daily joy of nature by appreciating its beauty, opening your mind to its energy, and making it a part of your life to truly understand, "what a wonderful world."
*lyrics from Louis Armstrong 's Song " What a wonderful world".
